First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, seeks a full-time, skilled, energetic Director of Music and Worship Ministries to provide spiritual, artistic, and organizational leadership to the music ministry of the church.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a Christian faith that is growing and vital; will give evidence of effective prior church music leadership experience; and will exhibit a commitment to life-long learning and professional development.
The Director of Music and Worship Ministries will coordinate all aspects of the music ministries and many aspects of worship for the purpose of promoting the spiritual life of the congregation, continuing the traditions of the United Methodist Church, and helping members and visitors strengthen their Christian faith.
Traditional worship at First United Methodist Church is held in a beautiful wood and stained glass sanctuary with a focus on liturgy, prayer, preaching, and music in the classical tradition.
The Director of Music also is expected to share a respect and appreciation for the contemporary worship genre as well, and will relate to the music leader of our contemporary service in a supportive and supervisory role.
