Growing in faith and love through worship, discipleship, and service.

Childcare

We want young families to participate in all activities our church - and we know that isn't always easy!

That's why we provide childcare for meetings, services and other church events in a  safe, nurturing Christian environment for young children. The staff provides nursery and childcare services for both worship and non-worship purposes.

All our adult childcare staff are CPR certified. Our teenage helpers have each completed the Safe Sitter program and work only in a room with an adult.  We are a Safe Sanctuaries congregation, and follow our Child Protection Policy.

There is no need to register your child for childcare during any worship service or on Wednesday evenings. For church meetings, you'll need to request childcare by calling 865-483-4357, ext. 39. After hours dial *839 after the answering machine message. Leave a message for our childcare coordinator and she will call you back.

Sunday morning Nursery hours: (check-in 10 minutes before each service)
No reservation is required for worship or Sunday School childcare.
8:45 a.m. Early Worship, children ages 6 weeks - kindergarten are in room 124.
9:55 - 10:45 a.m. Sunday School. Ages 3 & 4  are taken to Sunday School. Younger children are kept in nursery care.
10:45 - 12:00  Late Worship, children ages birth - kindergarten are in rooms 124 and 125.
Non-worship Childcare:

Limited childcare is provided on Wednesdays for Fellowship Night.  Children should eat dinner with their families - or may be allowed by parents to sit at the "children's table" in the center of the room.  There is no official adult supervising this table other than the childrens' parents.

Following dinner at 6:00pm, children ages 4 and under are welcome in childcare while their parents attend a class or the program.  Older children are encouraged to participate in the three children's choirs that practice from 6:15-7pm.  Children who are not in choir may be "helpers" in childcare with Kate Meacham's permission.  We often have projects that older children can help with, or a study hall table where homework can be accomplished during the 6-7pm hour.

FUMC also provides childcare Sunday through Friday mornings for Bible studies, meetings and other church activities upon request. Childcare requests can be made by calling our Childcare Coordinator at 865-483-4357, ext. 39, or by reserving online. Please make all reservations at least one week prior to the church event.

No childcare is provided on Friday nights or Saturdays unless the Childcare Coordinator approves the request one month in advance. Additional cost to your program may apply.

Childcare is not provided more than 4 hours at a time.

You will receive confirmation of your childcare request as soon as possible.
