The designated offering for August 2023 will go to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Volunteer advocates in Anderson and Blount Counties provide a voice in juvenile court for abused and neglected children, with Anderson County receiving a larger amount. CASA plays a crucial role in reducing the average time a child spends in the foster care system, which is currently 22 months. In fact, CASA cuts that time in half. There are currently over 300 children waiting to be matched with a volunteer.
The importance and need for support for CASA are abundantly clear when considering that 92% of children who age-out of foster care are incarcerated or homeless within 18 months. Please join us in supporting our abused and neglected children.
