Baptism
We encourage persons of all ages to pursue baptism. At First Church, we baptize by pouring or sprinkling water that has been blessed for baptism over the head and making the sign of the cross on the forehead to invite the presence of the Holy Spirit. Baptisms can be scheduled throughout the year in any of our worship services. Please contact the church office at (865) 483-4357 to schedule a baptism.
The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms from other Christian denominations and therefore does not re-baptize people, however, when joining the church we do encourage people to remember their baptisms in a service of baptismal renewal.
