The excellent, behind-the-scenes work of the Trustees and Maintenance staff often go unnoticed. The list of their 65 separate accomplishments in 2021 is long and detailed. Here are a few of the highlights:
- Installed four new LED light packs for First Steps sidewalks, a dozen new shelves in five classrooms, a gas grill for outdoor cooking, a condensation overflow drain line, two multipurpose picnic tables, a backup assist camera on the box truck, custom-built wooden shelves for the office, emergency lights in hallways and stairwells, and an emergency boiler shutdown safety switch
- Replaced a failing fluorescent light with an LED fixture, outdated sidewalk ballasts, an analog phone line with a digital cellular wireless callout system, a bad firewall, an 8-port switch, two battery backup units, a monitor, three computers, an electric water heater with a tankless instant heater, rotted foot caps on chairs, an adult toilet, a child-sized toilet, 18 paper towels dispensers with new models to save money, all church HVAC filters, ten UV lightbulbs for air handlers, chains on a playground swing-set, radiator coils in 14 HVAC wall units, two failed batteries in a secondary fire control box, a backup battery for the burglar alarm system, three water fountain filters, a bad control switch in two of four fountains, two miles of HVAC communication wire, carpeting in two rooms, damaged CAT 5 cables running from the Welcome Center to the Loft, a switch for our live-stream equipment, and 18 water directional control valves on HVAC wall units
- Added three outdoor electrical outlets around the Welcome Center portico, fellowship hall, and parlor; and several electrical outlets in hallways and classrooms in First Steps
- Built a partition wall in the library; two large bookcases; a custom workstation in the sanctuary balcony for audio, lighting, and live streaming controls; a workstation for the cameras, audio, and lights for MPR live stream services; and a water play system on the playground for kids on hot days
- Performed our annual UV lightbulb replacements for our air handlers
- Refinished the altar tables in both the sanctuary and chapel
- Remodeled First Steps break room with a new counter, pantry, drawers, electrical outlets, and paint
- Repaired an air handler, ductwork, and vents in Keystone; HVAC condensation pump and drain system; flush & pump system for HVAC pans; three seriously clogged drains; a broken sanctuary exterior door that would not lock; five urinals; a roof leak in bell tower; and a dozen slate roof tiles
- Re-carpeted two offices after water damage
- Moved the contents of six First Steps classrooms, dismantling and reassembling the play lofts
- Removed a rotten sugar maple tree, three Bradford pear trees, one Japanese tree, and topped Foster holly trees
- Upgraded all HVAC sensors and controllers in the building and four classroom HVAC controls/wall thermostat sensors in First Steps
- Sold the old church bus and personally delivered it to Michigan
- Created floor plan drawings for First Steps and Keystone areas, drawing in progress for the entire church
