Children & Family
Welcome to Children’s and Family Ministries! We strive to create a loving environment for every family that walks through our church doors. Your child will be welcomed into a space where they will learn about God’s love through age-appropriate storytelling and scripture reading, worship, crafts, and more!
We not only want to create a fun and loving environment for kids, but for their families as well. We plan many events throughout the year for our families to come together and fellowship with one another. We want to provide a community for families so that they know they are loved and have people that will support them as they are raising the next generation.

Childcare
First Church realizes that safe, reliable childcare is the key to families being able to participate in church ministries. That’s why we provide childcare for meetings, services, and other church events in a safe, nurturing, Christian environment for young children.
We are a Safe Sanctuaries congregation and are happy to provide you with a copy of our Child Protection Policy upon request.
Regularly Scheduled Childcare
Sundays: Childcare begins at 8:30 A.M.
- Worship Care (8:30-noon). Children ages 6 week – 2 years (“Little Embers”) will meet in Room 204, and children 3 – 5 years (“Little Sparks”) will meet in room 206.
- Sunday School (10:00 – 10:45): Sunday School takes place during the Sunday School hour for 3-5 year age group, “Little Sparks”.
To Request Childcare
First UMC can provide childcare for any church sponsored on-campus meeting, event, or program with prior planning. Request childcare for your next gathering by emailing the church office. Requests must be made at least one week prior to event. You will receive confirmation regarding your request. When making requests, please remember that childcare is not provided more than 4 hours at a time. Additional costs to your program may apply if events are scheduled outside of regular hours.
FirstKids Worship
FirstKids Worship is a way to spend time with the children and begin to learn the basics of a church service and to better understand the traditions of the United Methodist Church. Children PreK – 3rd grade are invited to attend FirstKids Worship during the 11:00 a.m. Contemporary and Traditional Services. FirstKids Worship Teachers will drop students off with their families during the last song of each service so that families can end worship together. FirstKids Worship will not be offered on the first Sunday of each month, as this is Communion Sunday and we would like the children to stay in service with their families to experience this tradition.
