FUMCOR has sent 76 Humanitarian Mission Teams into the world. They have served in five countries (Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti, Panama & the United States). Teams have performed Construction, Bible School, taught sewing, held medical, health & vision clinics, performed and taught children’s oral health, taught community gardening, built stoves, performed pastoral training, and performed many aspects of disaster recovery including reconstruction and verifying and assembling various disaster relief kits. They have also performed facility and grounds maintenance at UMCOR facilities and, most importantly, developed strong relationships while performing as God’s hands & feet on earth.

During the current year, 2023, the ‘Adult Missions Trip Planning Group’ has prepared to support two humanitarian mission experiences: the first, a medical/vision clinic in Panama, the second to UMCOR Sager Brown to support disaster relief efforts within the United States.

  • The first team is scheduled to travel to Panama from September 30 – October 8. This team will provide medical and vision services to indigenous Panamanians in the mountains of Panama. The contact for this mission experience is: Jim Michel – 865-483-8849  or jamesrmichel@hotmail.com
  • The second effort is to support the UMCOR Disaster Relief Depot in Baldwin, LA., scheduled for October 28 – November 4, 2023. The major effort for this team will be the verification and staging of various disaster relief kits. Other support tasks are available for those who wish to perform other types of work. The contact for this mission experience is: Maxine Schultz – 865-482-0080 or maxbob38@comcast.net.
