It is a mission experience for all ages, capabilities, skills, and desires to support God’s children who have recently undergone a disaster in their lives. UMCOR Sager Brown is a disaster relief supply depot located in Baldwin, Louisiana. Each year, more than 2,000 volunteers prepare approximately $4 million in relief supplies for shipment from the UMCOR Sager Brown Depot in response to disasters in the United States. UMCOR Sager Brown Depot reaches out to its local neighbors through food distribution, housing rehabilitation projects, and other community outreach efforts. As you can see, there are many activities to participate in, so no matter what your skill level is or what type of work you prefer, you can find it at Sager Brown.
FUMC has been supporting this mission program since 2006. We have sent 16 teams comprised of 188 team members to support those to whom disaster has struck. FUMC’s 2024 Sager Brown encounter is scheduled for September 7-14. Reserve those dates to have a “service-oriented vacation” in the bayous of Louisiana.
