The XYZ (Extra Years of Zest) Senior Luncheon Group was formed with administrative support of Rev. Mark Flynn and Rev. Jenny Caughman. A Planning Committee was formed by inviting several senior members to plan the program. Nine seniors have worked with planning and have been joined by two additional seniors. The plan is to offer sit-down luncheons during the day on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from January through May and September through December. Day trips are being planned for summer months according to interest of our guests. Rev. Flynn recommended that the organization emphasize ecumenical diversity and invite guests from the Oak Ridge area community. The purpose of the XYZ Senior Group is to promote spiritual formation and commitment, fellowship, connections with new friends, and provide joyful, informative and entertaining programs. We believe we have initiated a way for seniors to appreciate the gift of aging. Very successful luncheons and programs have been attended by from 64 – 90 guests, the majority of them repeats who have attended each luncheon.
